Here you will view each current guest and learn what they are up to as well as viewing pics and videos of the current month's dog games. We also post pictures and videos on our Facebook page.
Enjoy!
Note: We will only be posting blogs and pics of dogs we're training, or are otherwise involved in activities such as swimming, hiking or showing. If you want pics of dogs who are here for only boarding there will be an additional fee of $15 per picture session as it's time consuming. Note: Often, however, our play yard videos (on Facebook) will feature all of our K9 guests; even those who are not scheduled for additional activities.

Leo and Harvey Perrow
Leo is a lovely GSD and we enjoy him each visit. This time, he brought his new housemate, Harvey. I believe Harvey to be a Beagle/Lab/Border Collie mix. He's certainly sweet, smart and enjoys learning. While Leo goes on his daily hikes, Harvey started training. Today we worked on heel, sit, come, down and a short sit stay.
3/25: Harvey has made a ton of progress. He's so willing to learn! We're also working on his jumping up, too. As of today, I was able to move all the way around him during his sit/stay, in both directions. He has almost learned how to down on cue. His heeling has gotten much better and his comes are also straighter.

Cola and Moose
Cola is a 5.5 year old female Rotty and Moose is a 4 year old male Rotty. They're here for the 4 week board and train program. Both are huge dogs! I'll be working on getting their weight down as we also work on their behavior modification.
3/12: Today we worked on a bit of movement during the sit/stay. They can remain in a stay for near 10 seconds. Both are heeling well, provided there's no other distraction, such as a dog. When they see other dogs, they become very reactive. I'm using Comfort Trainers, which is very helpful when redirecting them. They are eating well; even their meds as I mix some Merrick Buffalo canned food into their meals.
3/22: The Rottys are making progress. Moose more so than Cola. She has an excuse, though. Both her hips are hurting her. We get a couple sit stays and down/stays, but don't push it too much. Meanwhile, we can walk all the way around her in stand/stay and she always comes on cue. Moose has gotten to the point where we can move all the way around him during his sit/stays, and started motion in his down/stay. He's enthusiastic while heeling and performs a nice finish.
3/25: Moose has accomplished his basic obedience behaviors. We are now startiing to work on gaining distance during his stays and comes. While he's pretty good with minor distractions, such as wildlife, wind, and people going about their business, he is still reactive to another dog who might be barking and lunging in his direction. That's a tough one for any dog. Cola has been doing well enough to take her first hike today. Her heeling, stand/stay and comes are pretty good. She's also okay with minor distractions. While she reacts a bit to first seeing a person or other dog, she's easily redirected.

Cooper Ahn
Cooper arrived for a long term visit. He's getting daily hikes and lots of play time with other dogs.
2/25: We had a great hike today. He's so responsive and fun to hike with. He thoroughly enjoys himself and makes me enjoy it, too.
2/28: Cooper is playing well with Bella and Tinker. He's also done well with some other K9 guests. He's super on his hikes, is eating well (if a bit too fast!) and responds well to all cues.
3/1: Cooper continues to do well. His little buddies, Tinker and Bella, left today, but there will be other dogs for him to play with soon. Meanwhile, he gets his daily hikes and lots of attention.
3/5: Cooper is having lots of fun going on his hikes completely off lead, without even a harness. He's going on race-abouts, chasing squirrels and turkeys. He always returns to me, usually with debris stuck in his tail. I remove it and we continue on.
3/12: Cooper now has a waistline! I've begun adding a little more food each meal - now at 1.25 cups per meal. He still gets lots of treats for all his good behavior, too. This visit he's being a very nice boy to the other dogs. That's a big improvement for his behavior.
3/22: Yesterday, Cooper hikes with his buddy, Iggy. They were both off leash and both very receptive to cues. They checked in a LOT, so never ran off too far. As they had lots of fun together, I'll continue to do buddy hikes with them.
3/25: For the past few days, Cooper had been hiking with his pal, Iggy. But during the last hike, Iggy got too rambunctious, so today it was Cooper on his own. He's always a wonderful hiking buddy. Note: When Cooper arrived he was a little chunky. Now he's sleek and in perfect form. I actually had to increase his meals by 1/2 cup twice a day. Plus, he gets lots of training treats throughout the day.

Iggy Ross
Iggy, a Standard Poodle, is with us for an extended visit. While here, he gets hikes and training every day. He also gets play time every day with other K9 guests.
2/25: We had a nice lesson this morning. We worked on leash and off leash, then went on a hike. Iggy was pretty good, but does need a little work on off leash recalls when at a distance.
2/28: I've been working Iggy on Rally exercises that are in both Novice and Advanced levels. After his training session we go on a short hike. He's responding to the come cue much better and checks in a lot.
3/1: We had a great lesson today. Off leash stays, comes and some Rally work. This was followed by a hike around the farm. Iggy was great.
3/5: Today we went on a longer off leash hike than ever before. One time Iggy didn't come right in quickly, but the rest of the times he did. He also checked in VERY often. He likes the results of that. His Rally work is improving. He's now going straight down as we heel. (This is a Rally exercise.) His turns and stays are pretty good. I've started him on some Advanced Rally exercises, too.
3/12: Iggy did more Rally Advanced work today. We continue to practice the Novice, but I always attempt to challenge him. He has been doing very well with his off leash hikes, too. His recalls are now very good.
3/22: Iggy is eating well and has a good friend in Cooper. They are together much of the day and have started hiking together; off leash.
3/25: Iggy and Cooper had a few days of tandem hikes. The last one, however, Iggy got to rambunctious and was knocking over Cooper. He took it well and kept wanting to play. But, today Iggy had a private lesson instead. We worked on his Rally Novice and Rally Advanced exercises. He's ready to show!

Zozo
1/4: Zozo has returned to her 3 day/week daycare and training pattern. Today we got in a couple good lessons. We have lots of work to do in order to be ready for the February shows. She'll be in Rally Excellent B and Beginner Novice. Each have their challenges.
Zozo is my Rhodesian Ridgeback show dog. She's staying with us for a week, plus going to 2 obedience trials this weekend (Dec. 2 and 3) She aced the trial a few weeks ago with high scores and a first and third place. We hope to at the very least repeat the high scores to complete 2 more titles.
12/3: We had a successful show weekend. Zozo earned 2 more titles - Rally Advanced B and Rally Intermediate. She got 2 blues (1 in Rally Intermediate and 1 in Beginner Novice) and a fourth (in Rally Advanced. I'm thrilled as it takes super high scores to pin at all.) this weekend. This means our next show we have to compete in Rally Excellent - a very challenging level in every respect. She also earned her first leg of Beginner Novice Obedience, winning the class. 2 more of those for another title. So far this year, Zozo has earned 3 titles!!!
2/10: The next chapter in Zozo's show career started today. We were entered in Beginner Novice B. She did not perform as her perfect self, but well enough to get a second leg on her title and earn a 2nd place ribbon. Though we're scheduled for an Excellent B class tomorrow we'll be nixing it as it is going to rain hard and she gets freaky when there's hard rain on the roof of the building she's working in. We'll skip it and move on to the next show.
